If you haven't already done so, run a disk diagnostic program
on the drive prior to installation (disksalve, quarterback tools, etc).
You may have some corruption that causes the installation to halt
or freeze. Also make sure that you have enough drive space available
prior to installation. I think 3.5 needs 20 megs free on the system
partition.
